The Valley:
Getting off the airport can be an overwhelming experience for some. The ride from the airport to your hotel will definitely spice up the itinerary. Kathmandu is the capital and the largest city of Nepal. A valley that has the best climate in the world, and equally friendly people. Kathmandu, originally known as Kantipur dates itself from the 12th century AD. Like any other developing city in the world, Kathmandu too is not far behind in pollution, traffic and concrete congestion. However, hidden beneath the modern facade is the capitals amazing cultural and architectural marvel.
Situated 3 kilometers south east from Kathmandu across the Bagmati River is the city of Patan, also known as Lalitpur. Patan is noted for its craftsmen and metal workers and is also known as the city of artists. The ancient palaces and amazing wood carvings is always a marvel to watch.
Approximately 15 kilometers from Kathmandu is the city of Bhaktapur or Bhadgoan as the locals still prefer to call the city by its traditional name. Among the three cities in the valley, Bhaktapur has the finest architecture. The palace and the courtyards of Bhaktapur have a distinctive charm. Pottery and weavings are Bhaktapurs traditional industries that have been running till this day.
